Lonato Fortress
Lonato Castle, commonly known as Rocca, or citadel, stands atop one of the hills of the natural morainic amphitheater overlooking the southern part of Lake Garda.
On the southern slope of this hill stands the historic center of Lonato, whose outer suburbs today extend to the edge of the Po Valley.
The fortification, specifically designed for military and defensive purposes, is one of the most imposing in Lombardy. Its irregular plan reveals the structure, almost 180 meters long and 45 meters wide on average. It consists of two sections: the Rocchetta in the upper part and, lower down, the main part. Despite the long rule of the Visconti and Scaligeri families, the complex, built with large morainic blocks and Guelph battlements, is certainly the result of restorations carried out over the years.
House of the Podestà Museum
The Casa del Podestà in Lonato, built in the 15th century under Venetian rule, later served as the seat of the Austrian government and the town hall. In 1906, lawyer Ugo Da Como purchased it, recognizing its historical value. Together with architect Antonio Tagliaferri, he restored the building, restoring its Venetian dignity and transforming it into a refined house-museum furnished in 19th-20th century style.
The house was inhabited until 1941 by Ugo Da Como, who died in Lonato, and his wife Maria Glisenti, who passed away in 1944.
The identity of this bourgeois residence has remained unchanged to this day.
The Casa del Podestà is a true “domestic library” housing a collection of approximately 50,000 volumes, ranking among the most important private collections in Northern Italy.
It is part of a monumental complex of extraordinary beauty, dominated by the magnificent Visconti-Venetian Fortress.

Avanzi Cellar
Our family produces rare and fine wines in Lugana and the Garda Classico area. We cultivate four wine estates in the municipalities of Sirmione, Desenzano del Garda, and Polpenazze del Garda. We work exclusively with our own grapes, and each of our wines is born in the heart of its historic terroir.
Welcome to our dream!

Sirmione, the pearl of Lake Garda
Sirmione, on the southern shore of Lake Garda, immediately captivates with its picturesque historic center, rich in artistic treasures of inestimable cultural value, breathtaking views, and numerous religious buildings of great historical importance.
A stroll through the historic center will immerse you in the charm of the Sirmione peninsula, with natural vistas and glimpses of the ancient town overlooking Lake Garda. Explore the beautiful religious buildings and numerous local monuments, including the ruins of the Roman Villa of Catullus, the early medieval remains of the Church of San Salvatore, the Scaligero Castle, and Palazzo Callas, which offer a rich annual calendar of cultural, musical, poetry, and photography events.
